Health care professional with multiple roles
Jan Holmberg is a Master of Health Care and an expert in the field of national and international development of substance abuse and mental health care projects. He is a Registered Nurse (Bachelor of Health Care) by his background and he has been working in various psychiatric units in Finland. His main focus of practice and consultancy has been in dual diagnosis and working with severely ill mental health patients. He has received The Addiction Nurse of the Year award in 2004.
Mr. Holmberg has been on editorial boards of professional literature and an author on several book chapters and professional articles. His latest book was published in 2010 with the Finnish title Päihderiippuvuudesta elämänhallintaan (in English: From Drug Addiction to the Control of Life). A few years later he started blogging in Finnish.
As a trained Vocational Teacher he has excellent pedagogical qualifications to organize and manage various kind of educational events e.g. workshops, seminars, lectures or even private tuition. He is presently a freelance lecturer and highly wanted keynote speaker by universities (of applied sciences), health care districts, national and international projects and conferences.
A key element of his work is to develop theoretical thinking together with professional skills in a clinical practice. His expertise is used for example in Romania and Greece.
